DETER

K9's Deter Intruders

90% of a Guardians dogs work is in being a deterant. Defending and protect homes and people against unwanted or unexpected human or animal intruders has been the job of Guardian Dogs for generations.

Lets face it, burglars prefer empty homes with least risk. A well trained, well bred guardian dog raises the risk threshold for anyone snooping around your home. K9's prove to be an excellent deterant.

The debate over Guardian dogs working in defence v's protection runs wild and is split between two camps. That of the Defence Team and Protection Sports. For those of us looking for a Watch or Guard dog, Defence is protection work.

In essence, when a dog is working in defence mode, it is not in a pray driven exercise. Solid Watch and Guard dogs work out of Defence Drive. Buglers are far less likely to rob a house or jump a person when they are being defended by guardian dogs working out of Defence Drive. While the job of a guardian dog is to prevent an incident from occuring, a dog working in Defence Drive has more capacity to think and make better decisions during an altercation.

Many Sport Dogs are taught to work out of Pray Drive rather than Defence Drive. In these sports, the dog with the most Pray Drive is the most successful. However, dogs defending their homes, property and loved ones benefit greatly from learning how to work in Defence for here they perform their biggest role, being that of a deterant.  You'll find AustralisK9 Dobermanns make excellent Guardian dogs for the family and single person alike.
